Bio

- I came into this world in 1972

- my mom became a christian and began to bring my Bro and I along to church.( the Iron Hall assembly)

- 1979 i asked Jesus to forgive my sins and save me. he did.

- started to learn to play guitar in 1982 at the same time as me brother.

- 1982 to 1990 i played guitar at my youth fellowship (Iron Hall) and at United beach missions for 4 years every summer

- 1990 to 2000 ( ill maybe tell you in your church some time)

- In 2000 i began to teach guitar full time

2002-2004
i did a little session work for local artists & various music projects (no big) & later on was asked to demonstrate for Breedlove guitars.

Demonstrated for Breedlove at various UK shows including London guitar shows, Music Live, Liverpool & Chester shows, etc.

2004

Recorded my first finger style acoustic guitar album entitled Trinity of Sound.

- Jammed with Phil Keaggy at Newtownards International guitar festival master class, cool!

- played at a local venue in conjunction with the Newtownard’s International guitar festival.

- played the Wedding March for local restaurant owner at temple of the Winds, some Celeb Chefs were there. (was Nice Time)

- had a kinda guitar acting role at Mount Stewart in conjunction with the national trust. ( ill tell you the funny bits some time)

- Played guitar at the George Jones Radio Show in Belfast.

- played at NDCFC to raise money for the children’s charity Banardo’s

- Also was the year i founded a Trinity Guitar School teaching classes locally in the North Down area.

2005

- Wanted an online guitar web site and with the help of my good friends Phil Murray and Andrew Parks , www.trinityguitarschool.com was launched providing beginners lessons and lessons in technique.

- Got myself an Avalon Legacy Guitar (Thanx Steve), Played it, Loved it, and still love it.

- played at Dublin music Live show Demonstrating the Avalon Guitars

- played a concert to raise money for the children’s charity Child Line.

2006

- Played at the Namm Show in La California at the Avalon Guitar stand. I met Miles (radio shack Mckee) and Roby Duke and gave Roby a Glasgow Kiss. he he. i Also met Joe Satriani, Mattias, Nick Cantaness and Kerry King, ( nice Guy) Gerry Donaghue (again)

- Played more local concerts , Jammed with Tommy Emmanuel at Windsor arts centre, London during a master class. cool!

- Decided Trinity guitar school.com should be more focused on helping Christian guitarist’s develop their skill’s and technique.

2007

- Continued to work hard at TGS.com recording etc.

- I learned that even though a church leadership can treat its member’s despicably and seriously neglect the Gospel, Christ can help overcome. Praise his name. Never give up on church (it’s only the odd few that don’t honor the Gospel and we read about them in Revelation)

- Played a bit of guitar in Italy Amalfi coast (lovely) but hated the traveling from Naples.

- Got demo offer from guitar company but love my Avalon too much. (thanx anyway)

- Started to project manage me house build.

- Went to CMS Christian Musician Summit, Seattle, USA and had a blast, played in Roby Duke’s class and had a ball. The guys in the states love me and i love them back. Jammed at Avalon Booth and kept Miles some company. Jammed with Guitar Legend/Friend Phil Keaggy and showed him some tunes, you can ask him if he liked it. love you man!

- Played at Primacy church Balloo Bangor Northern Ireland, to help raise money for Christian Aid.

- trinityguitarschool.com changed to darrenmoan.com. I’m still there to help so don’t think i’ve disappeared.

- I got tragic news that my good friend and Avalon guitar partner Roby Duke died on boxing day. He will always be remembered in my heart, Sad time.

2008

- Still busy with house.

- January, started to record my 2nd finger style cd at EMS studio’s, should be finished by February.

- Started a series of Acoustic Master classes on last Sat of every month up to June .

- id like to compose and record some worship songs for my next project.

-Went to Buffalo NY to teach two classes at the Christian Musician Summit in May . Met some real good people and still love them.

- House build getting to me but as you can see further down the page it turned out all good in the end ;-)

- I Discovered a preacher guy called Scott Johnson on www.sermonaudio.com / check out his sermon

Automatic Tithing Machines.

Not much guitar goings on but i have been inspired since Roby’s Passing and i have a few things/ projects on the long finger as it were.

-played with Steve of Avalon guitars at his church in Balinderry ( i think) sang a bit and it felt good.

Happy 2009

Moved into New House Feb 2009/ at last/ all is Good.

- Recorded a DVD on fingerstyle guitar (Beginners to Advanced) available in the shop.

-Played one of my guitar pieces and was interviewed for a guitar dvd and apparently STEVE VAI is in the same DVD.. mmmmm

- Buffalo in May at the CMS and taught two classes one of which was recorded for a dvd. reall nice to meet all my American friends out there again. well good. and i had the tastiest steak ever . Love you Jeremiah, Leah, Benji, chris deci and guys bruce and Matt of course.

-Tried some singing and all was going well until my hay fever started and good bye singing. will try again in Aug.

Going to be working on a dvd of Dadgad alternate tuning and a cd of some singing and guitar playing .

- Getting a revamp on web site so i can communicate better with my buddies.

- Got me a new 24′ apple imac with built in camera so no excuses re regular vids up on youtube watch this space.

- published some vids up on youtube.

Had Clara over from England and had a wonderful time. We went to The Manor House Hotel and enjoyed every moment, i even taught Clara how to swim, great.

-Played a small gig at the Avalon guitar factory . the Risk management team for Aviva (Northern Ireland & Scotland) were on a team building couple of days and i mas there musical entertainment for a shot while. Thanks Peter.
